Rugged Maniac Mud Run

Todd had a mud run this past weekend in Asheboro, NC. He was 1 of 16 folks from Holly Springs Training that went as a team to compete amongst 5,000 other people! I went along as the team's photographer and to support Todd. What's a mud run you ask? I'll tell you.

A mud run is when perfectly normal & clean people do a 3 mile race where there is TONS of mud & TONS of obstacles. So they go from looking like this....

From Mud Run

To looking like this....
From Mud Run

Why would anybody do this? Your guess is as good as mine. NO CLUE! It isn't my cup of tea but they sure had fun. So how did they get this dirty nasty? I'll show ya.

They start out as a normal run on a dirt path. Not too bad right?
From Mud Run

Then that dirt path gets dusty.
From Mud Run

There are ladders to climb.
From Mud Run

Hot firey coals to jump over.
From Mud Run
From Mud Run

Tires to run through.
From Mud Run

Then there is this tunnel of mud that was blocked from my view. The only thing I could see is what people looked like when they came out of the tunnel.
From Mud Run

I've got a feeling that this sign was right in front of that tunnel.
From Mud Run

Then came the fun part. The slide!
From Mud Run

That emptied out into this...
From Mud Run
From Mud Run

And these crazy people actually like this.
From Mud Run

They climbed over these tubes.
From Mud Run

And over this little hill to the finish line.
From Mud Run

Some folks didn't have the endurance to come down the hill so they slid.
From Mud Run

Like any good photographer would do, I sat my butt on the side of that hill to capture everybody coming down the slide and in turn, I got filthy dirty. Todd schooled everybody so I sat there for 30 minutes waiting for the rest of the team to come down the slide and in the process got a little sun(basically chicken fried my arms- oops!)
From Mud Run

I couldn't see everybody that went down the slide because they were unrecognizable from the mud but I got a few.
From Mud Run

This is Linda, Todd's instructor that he's been working out with for YEARS. She's the one that got him into this. Think she enjoyed herself?

From Mud Run

Amongst the 5,000 people, I ran into my friend Holly. I was in line for the porta potty and her friend says "Look at that pregnant girl". Holly looked up and says "I know that girl!".
From Mud Run

Todd had a great time & is hooked on Mud Runs now. Think he's signing up for one in June now! Got news for him- I ain't gonna be at that one.
From Mud Run

I scored major wifey points for going out ALL day long in the freaking heat to take pictures & support these guys at 7 months pregnant. Nobody else's spouse was there to cheer them on. Just preggars.
From Mud Run

They had a great time!

Now if I could just get the mud off the side of my lens, I'd be happy!!!

Good job guys!

28 Week Ultrasound

We had our 28 week 3D/4D ultrasound last Friday. We found out lots of information about our little one and we got a bunch of good images so I wanted to share.

Here's a picture of Paisley Lynn Craig.

From 28 Week Ultrasound

She was moving around lots in there & had a high heart rate of 162. Apparently I have higher than normal amount of amniotic fluid so it gives her the ability to move around a lot.
From 28 Week Ultrasound

They did several measurements of her & things look good. She is measuring about 5 days earlier and is in the 79th percentile. The tech said 50% was normal so she may be a big baby.
From 28 Week Ultrasound

She currently weighs close to 3 lbs (2lbs, 12 oz to be exact)
From 28 Week Ultrasound

I had the tech confirm again that she was a GIRL. I made her look at her "parts" twice and she assures me that she is 100% girl.
From 28 Week Ultrasound

She is a sucker! We got some footage of her sucking her thumb.
From 28 Week Ultrasound

At one point the umbilical cord got in her way while she was trying to suck her thumb so she started sucking the umbilical cord. Kinda nasty but whatever floats her boat.
From 28 Week Ultrasound

I had a Grade 1 placenta. Apparently placentas are meant to have a life span of 40 weeks and sometimes they can mature faster & get old. But momma's placenta is nice & ripe so she's getting all the nutrition that she needs. Yahoo!
From 28 Week Ultrasound

She had enough of us poking her around after 30 minutes and eventually started to put her hand in front of her face. I can just imagine her saying "Ok people. That's enough".
From 28 Week Ultrasound

Here she is waving goodbye! The next time you see pictures of her will be in July when she is welcomed into the world. So for now she says Bye Bye and I can't wait to meet you guys.
From 28 Week Ultrasound

Much Love,
Paisley's Mom

28 weeks

Time again for a baby bump report. Here are the pictures from today.

How far along? 28 weeks (7 months)

Total weight gain? Not exactly sure but maybe 16 lbs?

Maternity Clothes? Yep. Still need to chill out on the shopping.

Sleep? Still good until I burnt my arms at Todd's mud run yesterday. They're so red & sore that I couldn't sleep a wink last night. Not the wisest thing I have ever done.

Best moment of the week? Seeing our munchkin on the big screen. We had our 28 week ultrasound on Friday and got to see her up close & peronal. Loads on info to share with you about that visit but I'll wait and that will have it own post.

Missing Anything? Not really

Movement? All the time and I'll explain why in her ultrasound post. But this week she did something that I've never seen before. Instead of a punch or a kick, my entire belly was shaking. It felt like she was doing the shimmy in there. I had watched Dancing with the Stars the night before and it was Latin night. I swear the next day, she was doing the salsa & shaking her chest.

Food Craving? Not really. Cutting back on the milk intake now.

Anything making you quesy or sick? Nope

Gender? Salsa dancer

Labor Signs? No

Symptoms? Major back pain this week. I over did it at the party baby & lifted things I shouldn't have (even though people told me not to) and just tired from such an exciting weekend so I paid for it towards the end of the week.

Wedding rings on or off? Off. Wore them for the baby party & my hand was a mess the next day.

Happy or Moody? Happy & overwhelmed with the amazing blessings in my life. From awesome friends who showered me with SO much love to a healthy baby who getting big & growing good. I'm a happy camper!

Looking forward to? Breast feeding class this weekend. That should be educational.

Til next time,
Candice

BEST BABY PARTY of ALL TIME!

This past Saturday we had the BEST BABY PARTY of ALL TIME! What is a Baby Party you ask? It's everything opposite of a baby shower. It's not just women but women, men and lots of children! You don't just sit down and stare at me while I open gifts, instead you mingle, play corn hole, drink beer and hang out outside. Instead of cucumber sandwiches without crust you have Mexican food and lots of it. Instead of punch & nuts, you have pink lemonade, wine, and cake that the woman who did your wedding cake made and lots of cupcakes. I knew that I didn't want a baby shower early on. Instead I wanted a true party and celebration with our family and friends to celebrate this gift of a life that we'll be welcoming in July. I'm SO thankful for friends who went above & beyond to make this a truly special occasion. I'm also thankful for friends who love me even though I have become a full fledged baby diva. This party was everything and MORE than I dreamed it to be and it was a ton of fun!

No Craig party can start without a sign from Todd- PAISLEY FEST.

From Baby Party

The theme? Cowgirl. The details? INSANE! Bobbie made pink lemonade in mason jars and cutest cupcake holder. Geraldean had the cutest stickers & signs for everything.
