30 Weeks with Baby #2

Poor Hunter! That's the baby's name. Have I told you all that yet? Hunter James Craig. Poor guy- He just doesn't get the same attention on the blog (or in life) as Paisley did. Guess that's how it is with a second baby. I haven't shared much about this pregnancy on Facebook or on the blog but I wanted to catch you up on whats going on so I'll have a memory of it to look at down the road.

It's amazing how completely different this pregnancy is than the first. Paisley was SO active. I was in complete pain. She was the ninja baby who kicked me ALL THE TIME. I had pelvic pressure that I thought was going to kill me. I went to the chiropractor twice a week because of my back issues. I constantly felt like someone had taken a base ball bat to' yahoo' area. But never once was there an issue with her health. This pregnancy is completely different. I feel fine physically. My back hurts but that's because I'm carrying around a 21 lb 16 month old on my hip 24/7 and I've gained 20+ pounds. I'm also tired all the time but that's because Paisley is STILL very active and she's a lot to keep up with.

But since the very beginning of this pregnancy, I have had scare after scare with Hunter. At 12 weeks they told me that my placenta was pulling away from my uterus and that I was at risk of miscarriage. They put me on pelvic rest, told me not to travel and to rest. So I cancelled a trip to NY to see one of my best friend's new born baby. I cut my husband off from sex and I rested. We went back 4 weeks later & the problem corrected itself and my doctor then acted like it was no big deal. I won't
tell you how much I despise this guy because that's a different blog entry all together. So the next ultrasound we had they said Hunter had an issue with his bowel and that we would need to see a specialist from Houston. Great! It took nearly a month to get an appointment which meant I worried for a month. We went to the specialist and he said the bowel looked fine but that the baby had a large amount of fluid in his kidneys. Great! So after waiting 6 weeks this time we went back to that specialist last week and it was the FIRST time in 7.5 months were we got a good report. Nothing was wrong. Everything looked good. I can't tell you what a relief that was. I feel like my doctor has scared me into thinking that something was wrong with Hunter when there has NEVER been anything wrong with him this whole time. My OBGYN experience has been so different (and so crappy) compared to my pregnancy in Raleigh. I'm very thankful that this is my last baby and that I won't have to go through this again with these doctors who cry wolf.

Hunter is also MUCH calmer than Paisley ever was. He's not the ninja P was and he only moves around at night (hope that doesn't mean he's a night owl). His heart rate is also much lower. It's usually in the 130 or 140's where Paisley's was always 180-190's. I'm hoping that he's my CALM child!

So enough about that. Let's get to some pictures and some stats like the last time.

How far along? 30 weeks (7.5 months)

Total weight gain? 21 lbs. Same as last time but I started off 10 lbs lighter this go around.

Maternity Clothes? Of course.

Sleep: Good if Paisley isn't sick (which has been 3 times this past month)

Best moment of the week? Not really having any good moments lately. Praying things start to change. My builder told me yesterday that our house is 2 wks behind schedule and my doctor told me today that I'm measuring a week ahead. So that means that the house & the baby will be done on the same week. AWESOME! (not)

Missing Anything? Being in control of my emotions

Movement? Some during the day but more at night

Food Craving? Hostess Cup Cakes

Anything making you queasy or sick? Nope

Gender? BOY

Labor Signs? No

Symptoms? Some heartburn & sore back but other than that I feel pretty good

Wedding rings on or off? No issues with my wedding rings & my Excema this time so they're on.

Happy or Moody? Too moody to be making decisions for a house that I will live in for the rest of my life! Kinda scary

Looking forward to: Wearing my stretchy pants at Thanksgiving in Atlanta with the Craig's. Just praying P doesn't get sick again!

And a little comparison for ya. I think the bump looks about the same.

I hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving. We leave on Sunday so I'll share lots of photos when we get back!

A few people have asked about updates on the house. I don't know why I haven't put up any pictures on the blog. Lazy I guess. It's like everything else in my life, I just don't have time for it. But I do need to document the progress. Things are happening fast lately and it's really starting to look like a real house! Still can't believe we'll have our own house and own space one day. Living in a 500 sq ft 2 bedroom apartment at my mother's hasn't been easy. We are ALL (by all I mean me, Todd & even my parents) are ready for us to be on our own. The house was suppose to be done by Christmas but the builder has it won't happen. We're still praying for a miracle since I'm due January 24 & I don't want to move in the week I freaking give birth to my 2nd child!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyhoo. It started as an empty lot. Todd was the one who found it and literally went to the neighbor's house to find out who owned it. Unfortunately it was owned by another builder who wouldn't just sell the lot so my cousin (who built my parents house) couldn't build it. They started laying the foundation in August.

You can tell this was earlier in the summer when my belly was still flat. Not that way anymore!

We cleared out a ton of trees in the back yard only to find out that the thing slopes down about 10 feet into a creek. So we'll need some major landscaping done back there.

Framing went up in September.

I adore my kitchen windows & tall ceilings!

Todd's office is the only thing upstairs which is great because it will be his space & we won't bother him (or he won't bother us) while he works from home.

The garage is nice sized and will actually be able to fit both cars & all of Todd's lawn stuff.

Brick is up & done. Saratoga Springs is the name of the brick which is funny since I spent most of my summers in NY in Saratoga Springs at the horse track.

Sheet rock has gone up & they have also textured.

Cabinets are being installed now. We had some issues with some of the cabinets so that will hopefully get fixed sometime this week.

I'm in the midst of picking out paint colors which I hate because I'm just not good at it. But I think I'm pretty close to deciding everything.

Building this house has been a learning experience. And its been something that I'll never do again in my lifetime. This house is our dream home. It's perfect for us and meets all of our needs. I look forward to showing you more pictures in the next few weeks as it really takes on life!

Til next time,
Candice
